IEM Katowice 2016 continued with two games as Astralis took down FaZe 16-5 on de_inferno and Tempo Storm topped Virtus.pro 16-9 on de_cbble.
The fourth best team in the world in our recently updated rankings Astralis faced the tenth best squad FaZe on de_inferno with the Danes starting on the T-side. Finn "karrigan" Andersen and Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth were able to win a 2v3 on the pistol round and got the lead to start things off. The Danish team extended it to 4-0 with an A-site execute.
FaZe picked up the sixth round thanks to Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad's triple-kill to cut the deficit to four (5-1). The Danes answered incredibly, getting the subsequent round without losing a single player and putting their opponents in a tough economical situation.
All Astralis players had more than a 1.08 rating
The European team had the 3v2 advantage on the tenth round but Nicolai "device" Reedtz and René "cajunb" Borg clutched to bring their team their ninth round. The twelfth round saw FaZe getting two opening kills but Xyp9x showed up in yet another important situation and didn't allow FaZe get a round.
All the hopes of Ricardo "fox" Pacheco & co. were crushed when Astralis clutched in a 2v4 disadvantage. To add insult to injury the Danes closed out the half with a 2v5 and finished it 14-1. Despite winning the pistol, FaZe threw away another round (5v3) and gave karrigan's team 13 map points. They closed it out 16-5.

In the other match of the group, Virtus.pro met with Tempo Storm on de_cbble with Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas & co. starting on the CT-side. João "felps" Vasconcellos got a triple-kill in the pistol round with Ricardo "boltz" Prass following it up with an ace on the third round as the Brazilians took the lead 3-0.
The Poles secured the weapon round but Tempo Storm came right back with a huge streak. A 2v4 advantage gained by Virtus.pro was not capitalized on and the Brazilians got the score to 6-1. Henrique "HEN1" Teles's team had absolutely no problem at all as Paweł "byali" Bieliński literally had zero kills in the first fourteen rounds, getting a kill in the last round of the first half. The half ended 13-2 in favor of Tempo Storm.
boltz keeps on rolling with his incredible performances
byali resurfaced in the second half and clutched in a 1v2 after his team got the pistol round and Virtus.pro went on to bring the score to 13-5. Despite losing the first weapong round, the Polish veterans raised from their corpses and made this one a game thanks to TaZ and Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski's efforts (14-9).
With only an AWP and everyone else with pistols was enough for the Brazilians to acquire six match points. The Brazilians didn't mess around and finished it off 16-9.
